Desmond Davis the “BlackDrumHippie”, is a Grammy nominated musician hailing from the west side of Chicago who has developed a talent and passion for playing drums for over twenty years. Desmond honed his skills in the Baptist church playing gospel music however; he is well-rounded with the ability to play various genres including but not limited to; rock, pop, country, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, reggae, funk, and blues.
With growing notoriety, Desmond has played for countless artists including Stellar and Grammy Award nominated gospel artist Johnathan McReynolds, Stellar Award nominated gospel artist Todd Dulaney, Grammy nominated artist and TV One’s R&B Divas star Syleena Johnson, and Grammy Award winning Hip-hop artist Rhymefest.
The “BlackDrumHippie” has played many venues during his career. Some of his most notable venues include the Emmy Award nominated late night talk show NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers with Sir the Baptist and in one of the world’s largest musical festivals; Lollapalooza with soul/pop artist Janelle Kroll.
Desmond’s hard work and forward thinking has allowed BlackDrumHippie to transcend music as it has grown into a brand that provides customizable Levi denim jackets, t-shirts and other merchandise. BlackDrumHippie is also endorsed by Pearl Drums.
As of late Desmond is recording side projects and touring with Atlantic Records Nashville country/pop artist Hunter Hayes.
